A/Prof Asim Shabbir is Head & Senior Consultant with the Department of Surgery, National University Hospital (NUH) and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine).
He completed his basic and advance surgical training at NUH, Singapore. He was awarded fellowships from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and was accredited a surgical specialist by the Specialist accreditation board in 2007. In 2009, he did a clinical fellowship on Gastric cancer management with special interest in laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer at the Seoul National University Hospital, South Korean. In 2010, he trained at Eda Hospital, I Shou University Kaohsiung, Taiwan in Bariatric and Metabolic surgery and was awarded as Fellowship.
A/Prof Asim's specialty is general surgery and his special interests are upper gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric & metabolic surgery, advance endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery. He has been active in international as well as local meeting of his interest. His research interest includes obesity, surgery for type 2 diabetes and gastric cancer. He won the Best free paper award for his presentation "Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass for the Treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus in Chinese Patients with Body 25-35kg/m2at Asia Pacific metabolic bariatric surgical society meeting 2010. He has published in reputed journals in his field of interest.

Dr Andrew Wong is the current deputy chairman, Medical Board (Surgical Disciplines) and a Senior Consultant at the Department of Surgery at Changi General Hospital (CGH).
Dr Wong received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1995. He had specialty training at the Department of Surgery in CGH, followed by fellowship training in oesophagogastric surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. His subspecialty interest is in oesophagus and gastric surgery, bariatric and metabolic surgery as well as minimally invasive surgery.

Asst Prof Aung Myint Oo @ Ye Jian Guo is a Senior Consultant Surgeon in the Department of General Surgery and an Assistant Chief Clinical Informatics Officer in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore.
He is an Assistant Professor and an assistant clinical module lead (gastrointestinal system) with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. He is also a clinical senior lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
Dr. Aung completed his basic and advanced surgical training in Singapore. He was awarded Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship to undergo his fellowship training in advance minimally invasive
upper gastrointestinal surgery at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Korea.
He is the President of the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS), Chairman of Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine Singapore, the Preside-elect of SingSPEN (Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Singapore) and Scientific Chair of the World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery (WCES 2025) in conjunction with the 17th Asia Pacific Scientific Congress of ELSA (Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia). He was the Vice President of the 10th Asia-Pacific Gastroesophageal Cancer Congress 2024 (APGCC). He is also a member of the Singapore Cancer Society Gastric Cancer Awareness Month Committee. He is an active member of international societies for endo-laparoscopic surgeons and bariatric surgeons. He is actively involved in the Digital Transformation Project of ELSA and is also the Co-Chair of ELSA Communication & Informatics Committee. He is an active member of the EAES (European Association for Endoscopic Surgery) Education and Training Committee, the Communication Committee of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) and, the Surgical Specialty Board in General Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd, uK). He is also a council member of Medico-Legal Society of Singapore (MLSS).
Dr. Aung is active in both clinical research and teaching. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Healthcare Research Scholarship in 2013 to pursue Master of Clinical Investigation (MCI) at National University of Singapore and he was conferred MCI in 2016. He is also a Co-Investigator of international gastric cancer research trials. Not only has he published his research works in peer reviewed medical journals, he is also a reviewer of peer-reviewed medical journals. He is currently an instructor of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses, as well as a core faculty/ faculty of the Surgical Residency programmes in Singapore. He is also an e-tutor of MSc in Surgical Science, Edinburgh Surgical Science Qualifications and ChM in General Surgery, University of Edinburgh, UK, He has been appointed as a visiting lecturer to the Department of Thoracic Surgery, University of Medicine 1, Yangon in Myanmar. He is also an active faculty member of SMACMEP (Singapore Medical Association Centre for Medical Ethics and Professionalism).

Clin Asst Prof June Lee

Dr June Lee is a senior consultant in the Department of Surgery at Changi General Hospital (CGH). She graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004 with a MBBS degree. She trained for her specialisation in general surgery in both Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and CGH. Dr Lee attained a fellowship in general surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2012 and was accorded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award. She then completed her fellowship training in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery at Princes of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong in 2015.
Dr Lee is trained in minimally invasive surgical treatment of gastric and oesophageal cancers. She also maintains an interest in minimally invasive surgical treatment of benign conditions involving the upper gastrointestinal tract, obesity and hernias.

Clin Asst Prof Lin Jinlin
Changi General Hospital
Dr Lin Jinlin is a consultant with the Department of Surgery at Changi General Hospital (CGH). He graduated from the National University of Singapore School of Medicine in 2006 and finished his advanced surgical training, being elected to the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in November 2015. Dr Lin’s interest is in upper gastrointestinal, minimally invasive, bariatric and metabolic surgery.
Besides his clinical work, Dr Lin is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is currently a clinical lecturer, appointed by the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Nanyang Technological University Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is also a clinical physician faculty member for the SingHealth Transitional Year Residency and General Surgery Program.
Dr Lin Jinlin is a consultant with the Department of Surgery at Changi General Hospital (CGH). He graduated from the National University of Singapore School of Medicine in 2006 and finished his advanced surgical training, being elected to the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in November 2015. Dr Lin’s interest is in upper gastrointestinal, minimally invasive, bariatric and metabolic surgery.
Besides his clinical work, Dr Lin is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is currently a clinical lecturer, appointed by the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Nanyang Technological University Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Ng

Dr Ng is currently a Senior Consultant at the Department of Surgery in Changi General Hospital. Her subspeciality interests are in Upper Gastrointestinal, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Hernia surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery as well as therapeutic endoscopy. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSoM) in 2010 and subsequently obtained her Masters of Medicine (Surgery) from National University of Singapore in 2016. She obtained her Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in General Surgery in 2017.
She subsequently furthered her specialist training by completing a fellowship in minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal oncology surgery with a focus on robotic-assisted oesophagectomy (under the guidance of Professor Richard van Hillegersberg & Professor Jelle Ruurda) in University Medical Centre Utrecht, Netherlands; a pioneer in the use of robotic-assisted surgery for such procedures.
Dr Ng is currently a Senior Consultant at the Department of Surgery in Changi General Hospital. He obtained a Master of Medicine (Surgery) in 2016. Dr. Teh completed general surgery specialist training in 2018 and was conferred Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He also obtained ChM in general surgery from the University of Edinburgh in 2019.
Dr Teh underwent post fellowship training in upper gastrointestinal surgery and bariatric surgery in National University Health System, Singapore, specializing in the surgical care of patients with upper gastrointestinal cancer and morbid obesity. In 2022, he was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Plan Award, and underwent further subspecialty training in upper gastrointestinal surgery and advanced therapeutic endoscopy in Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region China with Professor Philip Chiu and Professor Anthony Teoh.
Dr. Teh’s surgical interests include surgical management of gastroesophageal cancers, bariatric surgery and single incision laparoscopic hernia surgery. Doubly trained as a surgical endoscopist, he has a keen interest in endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic resection of early gastroesophageal cancers, third space endoscopy as well as endoscopic ultrasound guided interventions.
Dr Teh has published several studies and reviews in international medical journals and co-authored several textbook chapters on laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic ultrasound. He is also an elected member of the executive committee of the Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS).

Clin Asst Prof Baldwin Yeung
Sengkang General Hospital
Dr Yeung is the Deputy Head and Senior Consultant in the Department of General Surgery and leads the upper gastrointestinal and bariatric service at Sengkang General Hospital. He graduated from University of Glasgow with first class honours in 2006 and obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University of Strathclyde in 2015.
He completed his surgical specialist training in the United Kingdom. In 2015, he undertook a 1-year fellowship in upper GI surgery and advanced endoscopy at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. In 2016, he spent a further year specialising in upper GI cancer surgery in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow).
Dr Yeung is the Deputy Head and Senior Consultant in the Department of General Surgery and leads the upper gastrointestinal and bariatric service at Sengkang General Hospital. He graduated from University of Glasgow with first class honours in 2006 and obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University of Strathclyde in 2015.

Dr Kim Guowei

Dr. Kim Guowei graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2007. He completed surgical residency at the National University Hospital (NUH) in 2016, serving as Chief Resident. He was awarded the Academic Medicine Development Award (AMDA) in 2018 and spent a year at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Korea, mastering laparoscopic and robotic surgery for gastric cancer.
With a keen interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and education, he served as a Clinical Lecturer for the Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, from 2014 to 2021, before being appointed as an Assistant Professor in 2021.
Dr. Kim has also trained postgraduate doctors in the National University Health System (NUHS) Residency Programme since 2017, serving as Core Faculty and then as Associate Programme Director and finally as Program Director of the NUHS General Surgery Residency Programme, grooming the next generation of surgeons. He was awarded the NUS “Dean’s Excellence Award” for teaching and education in 2017, the “NUS Medicine Fortitude Award” in 2020 for educational contributions during the COVID crisis and the NUH Education Award: GREAT Teacher (Interactive), GREAT Teacher (Didactic) in 2022.
Dr. Kim has a strong interest in innovation in surgery, and strongly believes that keeping abreast with advances in technology is quintessential to give Singaporean patients access to the best medical care available. To this end, he embraces technology such as artificial intelligence and robotics to improve existing techniques to improve patient outcomes. One such example would be the successful performance of robotic telesurgery over a distance of more than 5,000 km between Singapore and Japan in October 2023.
He also is an early adopter of new techniques, being part of the team that performed the first Pressurised Intraperitoneal Aerosolised Chemotherapy (PIPAC) procedure in Asia in 2016, conducting several first-in-the-world trials on PIPAC, and was the first in the region to successfully perform mediastinoscopy assisted trans-hiatal esophagectomy (MATHE).
Being a keen advanced endoscopist, Dr. Kim also performs endoscopic tube and stent insertion, and performs Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) for Achalasia, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) for Upper Gastrointestinal tumours, Endoscopic Full Thickness Resection (EFTR) for submucosal tumours of the stomach and the first Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) at NUH for bariatric patients.
While in public service, he was also awarded the Esprit de Corps Award (Alexandra Hospital) 2023 for exemplary patient care. He also served as a proctor at several public hospitals (NUH, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital) and is an active instructor at local and regional endoscopic and surgical workshops). He also has been invited to speak at international conferences on robotic surgery, artificial intelligence in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, and on surgical innovation and techniques.

Dr Maria Wobith is a visceral surgeon trained in Leipzig, Germany. Her main interests include oncological surgery, perioperative nutrition, prehabilitation, and ERAS. She coordinated the Colorectal, Pancreatic, and Gastric Cancer Center in Leipzig and established a dedicated prehabilitation outpatient clinic. Her academic work focuses on perioperative nutrition, prehabilitation, and the assessment and management of high-risk patients undergoing major abdominal surgery. She is a member of the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) guideline committee on exercise in oncology. Since February 2025, she has been a fellow in upper gastrointestinal surgery at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
